Wandong and Heathcote Junction are located near the edge of the Mt Disappointment State Forest. They offer a leafy country lifestyle within easy reach of Melbourne via an excellent train service or the Hume Freeway. Heathcote Junction derives its name from the being the railway junction for the former rail line to Bendigo via Kilmore and Heathcote which was closed in the 1960s. The area boasts a primary school, community hall, sporting facilities, hotel and shopping precinct, and is highly sought-after for its large residential blocks in a lovely natural bush setting.
